Monday, April 6, 2026. Learn!

TRIAD/SALT (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) is an exciting learning experience, a crime prevention program involving three groups: the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, The Village Police Department and senior citizens living in The Village, Nichols Hills and north Oklahoma City area. Meet with amazing individuals from all three organizations and learn how they work together to reduce the criminal victimization of older citizens. Come join us at 1 PM on the first Monday of every month at The Village City Hall to discuss safety, learn how to protect yourself from scams, and other issues facing our older citizens.

Our police and safety officers here in the Village are amazingly kind and helpful individuals, and if you have not yet had a chance to interact with them yet, you should sign up for some of the group activities the city offers because they truly are a fun and educational experience.

Saturday, April 11, 2026. Knit!

Interested in knitting or learning how to knit? Join us at your neighborhood Village Library from 10:00am–12:00pm as you finish your current project. If you’re a beginner, bring yarn and needles and the incredible helpers at the Village Library (who I simply cannot say nice enough things about!) will help you get started! The recommended yarn for beginners is "variegated worsted weight" and size 7 or 8 needles. This is a recurring event and takes place on the second Saturday of every month.

How amazing is our local Village Library. Need a book? Movie? Music? Meeting space? Need to use the internet? Print information? Host a meeting? Take a class? Learn a skill? We have the nicest crew working at our local library, offering a dazzling array of assistance, stop by and say hi to them!

Friday April 17, 2026. Donate!

The City of the Village and OB partner host blood drive Friday April 17th 11am-1:30pm. Donors will receive a special “Get Your Sticks on Route 66” t-shirt while supplies last.

If you’re interested in doing good and donating some of your personal supply of renewable life juice, you can sign up here:

Saturday, April 18, 2026. LitterBlitz!

Want to be part of something meaningful? Join your Village neighbors and help clean up Britton Road for Earth Day and ahead of the OKC Memorial Marathon! Volunteers will meet in the Ace Hardware parking lot at 1509 W Britton Road at 9 AM on April 18th. Safety vests, gloves, and bags will be provided. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes. I’d suggest an outfit you don’t mind getting dirty, and don't forget your sunscreen! If you plan to volunteer, please register with the City of the Village Public Works by calling 405-751-4933.

LitterBlitz is an OKC Beautiful program. OKC Beautiful is a wonderful local environmental education and beautification nonprofit organization. They do amazing conservation work to create a more sustainable and beautiful Oklahoma City for all. Please check out their Facebook page or learn more about OKC Beautiful on their website at https://www.okcbeautiful.com/

Saturday, April 18, 2026. Snack!

Need to reward yourself with a sweet treat or two and the excitement of a vintage find? The fine folks at the Village Arts Association are having their Annual Bake sale April 18th in front of Room 3 Vintage Store. All proceeds go towards bringing more art to the City of the Village.

The Village Arts Association is a lovely local nonprofit comprised of a few local art aficionados, who used their own personal time and energy to bring last October’s Village Arts Festival to our city’s beautiful Civic Plaza. If the second annual Village Arts Festival is anywhere as wonderful as the first Arts Festival was, I will gladly eat as many tasty treats as I can… for the community. You can learn more about the Village Arts Association and their events, on their website at The Village Arts Association - News

Saturday, April 25, 2025 Color!

Like arts, crafts, and DIY hobbies? Are you an adult who enjoys coloring? Have a nice social visit with other adults and bring your coloring supplies to the Adult Coloring Group in Meeting Room A and B at the Village Library 3:00pm–5:00pm. There will be some coloring sheets and art supplies available to share if you don’t have your own. But let me suggest you bring your own, what better icebreaker for meeting new friends than bringing the most unique coloring book you can find?

I can say only endlessly kind things say about our friends at the Library, they do so much for our local community. You can find a detailed calendar of the Village Library’s events here: Upcoming Events | Metropolitan Library System
